Welcome to Warbirds Over the Pacific. Gus Phillips was inspired to create this event honoring our war veterans because of the emotions he witnessed when a soldier observed a model aircraft of the past cruise by. The memories the F4U Corsair, or Hellcat, or P-51 Mustang, bring out a unique pain and sacrifice in those soldiers lives that never heals or goes away, The price that person paid for our freedom and service to his country is what we observe.
We at South Lane RC Modelers, have our own heroes amoungst us. We are losing them at a higher rate now than ever before. But no one should ever forget that it wasn't just a job, but a high price that was paid. The first event was a memorial for Mr. Guy Oliver who was one of our club founders and also a WWII Veteran in the US Marine Corps. He flew 81 missions against the Japanese and earned the Distinguished Flying Cross, The Air Medal, and two Purple Hearts. We have other veterans in our club as well who deal with the scars of war. Warbirds Over the Pacific Plus is, simply put, a way we as model aviation enthusiasts can say "Thank you" to all of you who served.

The event is a two day event starting with opening ceremony on Saturday. It closes early Sunday afternoon with a reenactment of the Battle of Britain. The "Plus" on the event invites all Scale Pilots to participate. If you have a replica of an aircraft that actually existed it is welcome to fly at this event. No ugly sticks with German markings is the point. The event offers overnight dry camping, motorhome parking (no hookups). Set up begins on Friday. It is a funfly event with a raffle twist. The more you fly, the better your chance at the prizes. There will be a static judging contest in 3 categories: Best of Show, Military, and Civilian.
Great friends and great fun. Bring a chair and come fly with us.
